Whether for pleasure or for professional motivations, the Private Pilot License is the first necessary step in a pilot’s training career. It enables the acquirement of the basic flying skills and build-up a solid foundation for further extended licensing.

The Private Pilot License course aims to train the student pilot to fly safely and efficiently under Visual Flight Rules (VFR), as well as acting (without remuneration) as pilot-in-command or copilot of any airplane engaged in non-revenue flights.

Both Private and Commercial Pilot Licenses are only valid for Visual Flight Rules (VFR).

In case of bad visibility or even overseas flying without visual landmarks that can be spotted, a Private or Commercial Pilot License will not be sufficient, therefore, the need for an Instrument Flight Rating (IR) becomes necessary. This rating will allow the pilot to fly in bad or low visual conditions, with sole reference to his cockpit panel instruments. The pilot will be able to safely manoeuvre his aircraft and follow accurate navigation itineraries through clouds, haze, fog, smog, mist and other low visibility conditions, without ever experiencing the necessity to see the ground.

The Commercial Pilot License (CPL) extends the privileges granted to private pilot, skill-wise and knowledge wise, providing the pilot with a new right to fly for hire and therefore becoming employable by an operator.

The Lebanese-French University (ULF) and Beirut Wings SAL (BW) have recently joined forces to develop two academic diplomas in Aviation Management. The two diplomas are intended to complement the certified licenses that are issued to BW pilots and are designed to give them a global appreciation of the modern aviation sector, as well as a further edge when joining the professional environment.

Although primarily designed for pilots, the two diplomas are also of benefit to airline employees, maintenance staff, administrators, ground and flight personnel, and anyone working or intending to work in the aviation sector.
