Multi Engine Rating – Aeroplanes

Flying a multi-engine aircraft presents new challenges to the pilot. Not only are there two engines to manage but also being in control of an aircraft with a much higher performance. This entails increased requirements for responsibility, skills and care.

General requirements for a Multi-Engine Rating:

  • Age – An applicant shall be a minimum of eighteen years of age.
  • Medical Fitness – An applicant shall hold a valid Class 1 or Class 2 Aviation Medical Certificate.
  • Certificates – An applicant shall hold at least a current Private Pilot License.

Multi-Engine Rating curriculum:

  • Knowledge – An applicant will complete a course that includes a minimum of 7 hours technical ground school.
  • Experience – An applicant will complete a minimum of 5 hours flight time in a multi-engine aeroplane.
